In Catching Fire a girl named Katniss Everdeen is threatened by her president, President Snow. She was in the Hunger Games and almost started a rebellion because she brought out night-lock berries that kill you instantly and almost took them with her 'boyfriend' Peeta Malark. The people who control the games had to end the game in a tie. Everyone went crazy and a lot of people died because of it. Katniss was sent home. Then she heard the news on TV that every 25 years they have a Quarter Quell when something really strange happens to the games. President Snow would pick an envelope out of a box and some thing different happens, like double the tributes, but it's not that. It was that all the people who won come back and fight a second time. So Katniss is sent back into the games with Peeta and then very exciting and disturbing things happen in this amazing sequel to The Hunger Games.

A book that I really stuck with was The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Something that made it good was the violence and suspense. When I was reading the book I couldn't put it down. Collins did an amazing job with length and the amount of violence per chapter.
Some of the main characters are Katniss, Peeta, Gale, Prim, Haymitch, Cinna, and Effie Trinket. The background of the story is a girl named Katniss and her sister Prim's dad died in a mine explosion mining. The story is placed in District Twelve, Panem which is the mining district and there are twelve districts. There used to be thirteen but number thirteen was destroyed in a rebellion with the Capitol.
Back to Katniss. Every year there is an annual Hunger Games, so each district has to offer one boy and one girl tribute to fight in the games. Katniss never worries about being picked because she is more interested hunting with her friend Gale. (sounds like a girl's name.)
One year Katniss' sister Prim is finally old enough to be picked for the Hunger Games but Katniss knows Prim won't get picked. Prim must have bad luck because she does get picked but Katniss volunteers for her. With Katniss a boy named Peeta gets picked too. There trainers name is Haymitch. He is ............. very ............... drunk, almost always. There guides name is Effie Trinket who wears a lot of make-up. Katniss also meets a nice guy named Cinna who is Katniss's stylist. Katniss goes into the Hunger Games with no allies.
Read the book to learn more. I recommend this book to people who like violent, romance, and adventure books.

Daphne's Book is a well written novel by Mary Downing Hahn. The main characters are Jessica and Daphne. They never thought that they'd be friends. But, because of one thing, something started, and they started to feel different about each other.
It all started when Jessica was assigned to do a project with the class "weirdo", Daphne. It was Daphne's first year at Jessica's school. She never talked, didn't dress like the other girls, had her nose in a book often, and was constantly hiding her face with her long hair. The other kids teased her and called her things like "Daffy", or "Daffy Duck". Jessica thought that doing a project with her would be social suicide.
As time went on, they grew to be friends, but Jessica still didn't share it with people because of peer pressure. As they got to know each other, they started to hang out. But one day, Daphne told Jessica a big secret, and Jessica made a promise to keep it. As time went on, Jessica learned that it would be dangerous to continue to keep Daphne's secret. Jessica thought about the secret a lot. She thought things like, should she tell?
This book is full of questions, answers, and suspense. It is geared toward young girls, and is very relatable (at least to me, anyway). It is about two friends, and how peer pressure sometimes gets them down. I recommend Daphne's Book to anyone who has ever felt peer pressure, or has gone through hard times.

Wooden Bones is the story of Pinocchio... after he turns into a puppet, but without the adventures in the original story.
Pino is now Pinocchio's name, and he lives happily with his kind father, Gepetto. But one day, Pino discovers that he has a gift- he can make wood come alive.
This book explores how wanting very, very powerfully can really make people do awful things, as Pino and Gepetto quickly learn as they use his powers to get out of, and into, one scrape after another. But all the while, Pino makes a horrifying discovery. Each time he uses his powers, he is slowly turning back into wood.
How will it end? Find out in Wooden Bones, by Scott William Carter. I would strongly recommend this book to anyone who likes fantasy.
