Wooden Bones is the story of Pinocchio... after he turns into a puppet, but without the adventures in the original story.
Pino is now Pinocchio's name, and he lives happily with his kind father, Gepetto. But one day, Pino discovers that he has a gift- he can make wood come alive.
This book explores how wanting very, very powerfully can really make people do awful things, as Pino and Gepetto quickly learn as they use his powers to get out of, and into, one scrape after another. But all the while, Pino makes a horrifying discovery. Each time he uses his powers, he is slowly turning back into wood.
How will it end? Find out in Wooden Bones, by Scott William Carter. I would strongly recommend this book to anyone who likes fantasy.
