Yesterday ended National Young Readers Week and we celebrated by hosting the middle school's first Book Day. Students and teachers dressed like their favorite book characters or wore outfits that celebrated reading. Students paid $1 to dress down (or dress up) and we raised a total of $55 for Dare to Care.
Our own Middle School Director Dan Ceaser accepted our Book It! Principal's Challenge and wore a Cat in the Hat costume all day (even to administrative meetings) and came to all four 5th grade Language and Literacies classes to read us his favorite Dr. Seuss book The Sneetches. The fifth graders loved it and enjoyed seeing our principal in a new way.
Thanks to Mr. Ceaser for showing us how much fun reading and loving books can be! Check out our slideshow for more images from our first Book Day.
