Participating in NaNoWriMo for the first time this year was a blast for the 5th grade and we learned many things about the writing process, time management, and goal setting.
57 Fifth graders "won" NaNoWrimo and met their word count goal, the biggest goal being 40,000 words (about 120 book pages). Our next step is to begin work on revision and editing.
We plan to continue our collaboration with other classes we met through the Word Wars in NaNoWriMo and will encourage each other in the revising and editing process. The goal is to have all students wanting to publish their stories ready to submit after Spring Break.
All students that were official winners, were given a code to receive five free paperback copies of their stories from CreateSpace.com.
More updates will be shared as we get closer to publishing.
